The Boss Method
An hour a day
You need to make the time to make a dime. You can organize all of your opportunities, but the money is in the follow-up.
Block an hour a day on your calendar, time dedicated only to follow-up. Log into Follow Up Boss, go through all of your priority lists and follow up like a boss. Call, text or email each contact in your priority lists during your power hour (and make sure all of your communication or contact attempts are logged). We continually update your lists so you don’t need to think about who to follow-up with next.
You WITHOUT rule 1
You have so much to do but so little time. You planned to follow-up with your leads today, but instead found yourself reacting to what was coming at you. By the end of the day you realize it’s been another day that you’ve dropped the ball. It’s another day you are being reactive rather than proactive.
You WITH rule 1
You live life with a plan. You prepare to have an hour a day dedicated to generating new business and cultivating client relationships. Sure, you could do even more, but you know consistency is key, day after day. You are in it for the long game.
Why It Works
Being intentional with your time allows you to do what you need to without worry. It’s the difference between thinking about eating lunch and actually eating. An hour a day means you are doing what you need to do and then some.
Always be recruiting
You WITHOUT rule 1
You have a team of agents, but you’re not confident in your team. You’ve just got people filling seats. When you realize you need better or different people, you start scrambling to find new people but you simply don’t know where to start.
You WITH rule 1
You have a team you are confident in but you have a game plan for growing your team as you need. Instead of chasing after people when you’re in a pinch, you are consistently building relationships with agents over time AND you know exactly what your team has to offer and how to pitch it.
Why It Works
Build a system your team
will follow
If you are passing out leads to your team, you should know what’s happening to them. After all, nothing is free. Remove the ambiguity and start each day with confidence.
You WITHOUT rule 2
You’re giving out leads to the team, spending boatloads of money and often wondering what is happening. Where is the money going? Some agents seem to follow-up, some you have no idea what's happening with, and you really can’t tell what’s working.
You WITH rule 2
You have a process, your team has a process and everyone is at ease. You can see your leads being followed up with consistently and when someone is dropping the ball, you know. Knowing is half the battle.
Why It Works
Your team looks to you to lead. Providing structure and process means you can do that without reacting. It will free your team up to do good work and will provide you with the tools to make sure that’s happening.
Be the boss of your business
Just hiring people doesn’t make you a boss. A boss has a plan and focuses on results. A boss knows who is performing, which lead sources are paying back and when it’s time to make a change.
Set time aside each week to review your team’s performance and your marketing outcomes. Who and what is paying you? The numbers will show you what you need to know to make your business grow.
You WITHOUT rule 3
You have so many things set in motion - a growing team, lead spend, marketing initiatives, but when it comes down to it you’re not really sure who and what is performing. It’s hard to sleep at night with so many unknowns. Also, how are you ever going to double your deals next year if you don’t know what you need more or less of?
You WITH rule 3
You are strategic. You are intentional. You don’t worry about performance because you know who is performing, who needs coaching and who to cut loose. You know which campaigns are generating true prospects and which lead sources are helping to build your business. People come to you for advice and you are happy to share.
Why It Works
Knowing what is actually happening in your business is key to success. You’ll be able to answer the important questions and make the important changes because you are tracking results. No more guessing. Now you’ll actually know.
Set specific goals
You know what you want. You just need to get it down on paper. Don’t keep your goals as thoughts no one can see. Bring them to life and rally everyone around them.
Start every quarter by reviewing last quarter’s goals and set new ones. Why? Because you need a target. You need something to aim for. And so does everyone else on your team. Set those goals and work backwards to figure out what you need to do each week to get there.
You WITHOUT rule 4
You are just reacting and responding to the day to day. You think about the future and so does your team, but no one has a clear target. You’re good, but you want to be great. Maybe you’ll try again next year.
You WITH rule 4
You aren’t just letting years go by without thinking about what you really want. New car? Epic vacation? More time with your family? You know what you want and you have a plan to get there. So does everyone on your team. And you all celebrate your achievements. After all, what is all of this work for if you don’t take the time to enjoy your wins?
Why It Works
Working toward specific goals helps you and your team focus. You know your targets and can drive towards those results. It empowers everyone to be strategic. It empowers everyone to win.
Build your brand
You have a team and a business but you need the community to know you exist. More importantly, you need the community to know who you are and why you’re the best. Don’t be shy. Share your value with the community. Get involved. And watch your business boom.
Take specific and consistent actions to grow awareness of your business. Build out a brand plan to make sure you are visible and relevant. Every quarter make sure your brand plan is up to date and is effective.
You WITHOUT rule 5
You’ve got a business but not really a brand. When people hear your name or your company name they think real estate (good) but nothing else (not good).
You WITH rule 5
Your business is known in the community. You are more than just a real estate team. You have a heart that beats throughout your community. You’re connected. You’re human. And people go to you vs. the competition because of who you are and what you do.
Why It Works
Knowing who you are will define what you do. It will make sure your business has a place in your community. Defining how you will make an impact and what you will do will ensure you are a business to remember.
